Who We Are

Antonia

I'm a barrister and safeguarding specialist. As well as leading a mission for change through Safeguarding Fundamentals with Paul, I provide safeguarding support to businesses, schools and all types of organisations. I run a number of memberships and communities for people who lead in safeguarding roles. I have also built a whole range of safeguarding courses which are variously accredited by CPD, NHS, Skills for Care the EFL and the NSPCC.

I am Chair of SAND Multi Academies Trust which has fantastic SEND and mainstream schools.

I am a Trustee for an International Safeguarding Charity, My Body is My Body, a fun, high energy musical resource which teaches primary-age children about consent and how to keep themselves safe. I serve as a governor in various education settings from Learning Centres, Higher Education providers..

l also teach social workers various subjects, including court skills, preparing for court, decision-making, and drafting reports.

Come and follow me on any social media. I love to chat. If you do - you'll also see that I talk a lot about the other passions in my life: Charlie and Hughie, my two wonderful border terriers. Sports (yes, I am a Sunderland supporter), and I love the Dodgers and the Lakers, well-being, art and some sharp political comments around equalities, justice and poverty.

I linked with Paul to build this movement for change. We are united by one overriding mission: to change the lives of countless children in the UK and around the world, helping them thrive and protecting them from abuse and exploitation.

Paul

After his career in football where he played for clubs including Tottenham, Manchester City and Liverpool as well as winning caps for England, Paul has dedicated his next career to shining a light into sports clubs (empowering this generation of sports stars and those who work with them to understand how to stay safe and the importance of safeguarding)..so that others are not affected by the abuse which marked his early life inside professional sports.

In 2016 Paul waived his anonymity and spoke about the physical and sexual abuse he endured at the hands of a youth coach as a 10yr old growing up in Manchester, Paul has joined the EFL's Life skills team to raise awareness about the importance of Safeguarding. He has worked with the FA SFA and Premiership clubs delivering workshops ta Academy Coaches/Parents/Players and his delivery whilst hard-hitting also gives an insight into Safeguarding from a survivors perspective.

Paul also offers a wide range of support to welfare officers at professional football clubs.

He also supports and gives a huge amount of time to various charities such as Street Soccer Academy and various charities that help those who may be thinking of taking their own lives.

Paul delivers Excellence in safeguarding and personal development training to young professional footballers across the entire country. He also now delivers training and support to those who lead sports organisations such as professional sports club owners and directors. He also speaks to international audiences. Paul has developed the free course "Safeguarding in Sports' course together with High-Speed Training - this course, which is approved by the NSPCC, EFL and others, is available through the Safeguarding Fundamentals website in our Free Resources
